Abstract

The perimenopause period is a transition phase between premenopause and postmenopause in women, generally occurring at the age of 45-50 years. Perimenopause, the transition phase to menopause, is often accompanied by a variety of physical and psychological discomforts that can affect a woman's quality of life. Physical symptoms such as hot flashes, night sweats, sleep disturbances, changes in the menstrual cycle, weight gain, joint and muscle pain, and vaginal dryness are common. In addition, changes in mood, decreased concentration and memory, decreased libido, as well as stress and anxiety can also occur. To overcome this discomfort, effective strategies include lifestyle changes such as regular exercise and a healthy diet, stress management with relaxation techniques, use of hormone therapy, social support, and appropriate medical care. With an interactive and communicative counseling method that provides information with respondents so that they understand the information provided, this method provides pre and post education about psychological changes. Counseling during premenopause, perimenopause and menopause is assistance that focuses on knowledge and skills to provide information about Facing perimenopause for all women who experience it. This assistance aims to prepare women mentally, psychologically and biologically before facing perimenopause. Basic things such as mental and biological health preparedness are emphasized, including reproductive health, to improve women's quality of life. The result of this activity is an increase in the mother's knowledge about psychological changes so that the mother understands and accepts going through the perimenopause period. The sustainability of this optimization activity can be implemented by midwives at elderly posyandu in the local work area so that the implementation of perimenopausal IEC criteria includes the dimensions of content, identity, instructions, targets and delivery as well as paying attention to family background, stress, anxiety, positive interactions and mental preparation to face psychological changes. perimenopause period.
